Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat. Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat. These are the words that were drummed into our ears on Friday night, when Fatboy Slim took to the Main Stage, marking ten years since he played the first ever Bestival. And this was subsequently the message that we lived by for the rest of the weekend. We’re only just beginning to recover, so aside from the HMS Bestival themed outfits, tranny keep fit and giant Lionel Richie heads, here’s our musical round-up of the weekend…

MIA headlined the Thursday night, belting out ‘Paper Planes’ to a packed tent of fresh faced festival goers, looking smoking in a hooded pink cape. Saturday saw the unlikely choice of Franz Ferdinand warm up for Snoop Dogg (or is it officially Snoop Lion now?), who delivered a classic Snoop performance complete with Myley Cyrus-esque dancers and hits like ‘Gin and Juice,’ and ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’. Other highlights included Sinead O’Conner, who had a definite tear in her eye when the crowd began to sing ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ back at her.

Bestival 2013 - Day 4

Sunday saw the iconic Nile Rogers and his band Chic wow the crowd by showing off his roster of song writing hits – from Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ to David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’, Dianna Ross’s ‘Upside Down’, and 2013’s summer song Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, this guy has written some choons in his time. Sir Elton John himself finished the proceedings on Sunday. Dressed in a sparkly blue suit, he sat at his piano for a whole two hours delivering classics like ‘Candle in the Wind’, ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Saturday Night’s The Night For Fighting’. We cried buckets. Everyone cried.
