Double buns, neck chokers and lumberjack shirts have all been part of this season’s 90s revival, but it wouldn’t be complete without a Buffalo-shoe-sized serving of TLC, specifically in their upcoming biopic, ‘CrazySexyCool’.
The story of Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins, Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas and Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez has been made into a TV biopic, airing on VH1 on 21st October. Keke Palmer (90210), Drew Sidora (Step Up) and US rapper Lil’ Mama have been cast to play the band in Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story.
As well as reliving the soundtrack of our teenage years with a little ‘Waterfalls’, ‘Unpretty’ and ‘Scrubs’, we’re particularly looking forward to all the 90s-tastic outfits. Here’s The Girl Mag’s guide to the CrazySexyCool TLC sartorial must-haves:
1. SILK PJS
Worn low-slung in lurid jewel colours and unbuttoned to flash enough just enough flesh so that you don’t get all the creeps-a-calling. These are totally Christmas party-appropriate, right?
2. THE SCRUNCHIE
Splattered on a white base, scrunching your hair up in to a mousse-ified half pony. Left Eye would approve.
3. BAGGY TEES
With winter incoming, swap the crops for a stomach-shielding cotton monster. Snag from your boyfriend’s shelves or seek out the biggest and best slogans / captions that your local chazza has to offer. Don’t forget the dungas to make this look the ultimate XXXL. Unpretty? Hell no.
4. SPACE AGE SLAP
Channel ‘No Scrubs’ for the festive season: turquoise lids and vivid white highlighter and a swipe of magenta lippie. Maybe not all at the same time.
5. T-BOZ GOLD HOOPS
The bigger the better. We’re big fans of the twisted gold variety, best teamed with a sleek black vest. They’re MTB – aka, meant to be in your jewellery collection.
